6 Planets Align on February 28, 2026

On February 28, 2026, six planets will line up in the sky. At some point, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune will drift into position, and form a straight line (more or less). What we do not know (or as it happens, remember) is whether this has happened before, and if so, exactly when.

So we utilized the 'Grok' AI on Twitter:

"On February 28, 2026, six planets (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) will align visibly in the sky. Has this happened before and if so, when?"

Yes, alignments where Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all visible in the sky at the same time (appearing along the ecliptic in an arc, not a perfect straight line) have happened before. These are often called "planetary parades" or "alignments," and they occur because the planets orbit in roughly the same plane. The upcoming event on February 28, 2026, is described as rare in many reports (from NASA, Space.com, BBC Sky at Night Magazine, and others), but not unprecedented. For context: A very similar seven-planet version (adding Mars to the same six) occurred just one year earlier, on or around February 28, 2025. That was widely covered as a rare spectacle, with all seven above the horizon after sunset.

The 2026 event is essentially the same configuration minus Mars (which isn't visible then), making it a six-planet parade. Sources note it's visible in late February 2026, peaking around the 28th, shortly after sunset, stretching from west to east.

These large groupings (5–7 planets visible simultaneously) are uncommon compared to smaller 3–5 planet alignments (which happen every few months or years), but they do recur on timescales of years to decades, depending on the exact planets involved.

True "all eight planets" alignments (or very tight ones) are far rarer—every few thousand years for loose groupings or centuries/millennia for tighter ones—but that's not the case here, as this excludes Earth (always "aligned" from our view) and Mars. No sources point to an identical six-planet lineup (these exact planets without Mars) in the very recent past, but given the 2025 event was nearly identical (just +Mars), and planetary orbits are periodic, similar configurations likely occurred in prior decades or centuries—though not always promoted as "rare" events unless visibility is favorable.

So it is not "super rare" but we would like to know just how rare it might be. As six planets were visible in proximity in 2022 and seven in 2025 this would seem to be rather less "rare" than "common"; and three such instances in a span of four years must itself be highly unusual.

But there is another factor we want to consider: the quality of the alignment. Are the planets simply grouped visibly in proximity (depending on the viewing angle) or do they really appear as though in a straight line (again depending on the viewing angle), and is this visible alignment, as though in a straight line, visible over a greater or smaller area? We think it is appropriate for the quality of the alignment to be greater if it is meant to be a 'sign in the heavens'.

As for the meaning of this sign we naturally consider the sixth seal of Apocalypse (6:12-17). For various reasons, the earlier alignment being one of them, we seriously considered 2022 to be the year of the opening of the seal. Or, it could have nothing to do with it. But considering the number of such planetary alignments recently it is doubtful.

After having pursued the question thus far we made further inquiries:

"How rare is it ? On average, how many years pass in between each such event ? Once a decade ?”

These six-planet configurations (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune all above the horizon and spread along the ecliptic in the evening sky, visible together shortly after sunset) are uncommon but not extraordinarily rare on astronomical timescales.

Media coverage and NASA often describe them as "rare" or a "rare treat," especially when they involve good visibility for multiple naked-eye planets (like Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and sometimes Mercury) plus the fainter Uranus and Neptune requiring optical aid. Small alignments (3–5 planets) happen every few months to a few years, but larger ones with 6+ planets visible simultaneously are less frequent.

NASA notes that while 3–5 planet groupings are typical, parades of six or seven planets are uncommon.

Some astronomy sources estimate large planetary parades (6–7 planets) occur roughly every 10–20 years on average, depending on how "visible" and conveniently timed (e.g., post-sunset, good horizons) the event is.

This specific setup (these exact six planets without Mars) isn't identical every time, but similar large evening parades recur on that decadal scale.

For context on recency and frequency:

Just one year ago (late February 2025), a nearly identical event occurred—but as a seven-planet parade with Mars included. That was widely promoted as rare.

The 2026 version is essentially the "sequel" minus Mars (which is now too close to the Sun to be visible).

Similar broad alignments with 6+ planets happen periodically, but ones with excellent evening viewing windows (like this one) and multiple bright naked-eye targets aren't an annual thing—they're more like once a decade or so for standout, media-hyped examples.

It's not "once in a lifetime" (far from it), but it's special enough to make headlines and worth catching if skies are clear—especially since the next comparable large parade might not align as nicely until around 2040 (as some reports mention for a similar multi-planet evening setup). In short: Not everyday common, but more like once every 10–20 years for a 6+ planet visible parade of this scale, so yes—closer to once a decade than once a century.

The ones we are interested in are the visible ones - if they are not apparent, then they cannot serve as examples of 'signs in the heavens'. But we note that there was one in 2022, 2025, and next on Feb. 28, 2026. Three in four years is considerably more than "once every 10-20 years", which demands attention.

And finally, we wished to inquire about the quality of the alignment:

"How often do they appear in a straight line ? Will the Feb. 28, 2026 planetary alignment be straighter ?"

Planetary alignments never form a perfect straight line in the sky (or in space) because the planets orbit the Sun in slightly different planes, not exactly the same flat plane. From Earth, they always appear along a gentle arc called the ecliptic (the Sun's apparent path across the sky), which looks roughly linear over large spans but is curved and spread out.

For brevity, we will summarize the remainder of the response: This planetary grouping is no more or less straight than usual. For six or more planets to be in more or less a straight line, they might occur on "timescales of thousands to millions of years or more". So for our purposes, the quality of the alignment is not relevant.  In short: That there are three visible planetary parades in a span of four years, at this particular time in history, is notable. Two of them involve six planets, which to us signifies the sixth seal's imminent opening, especially as the fifth seal is recently identified as being opened in 2020 - scroll down homepage or see here. Both of these factors together add up to more than the sum of its parts. One of them involve seven planets (2025), which, in proximity to the six planet alignment of 2026, in this context points to the seventh seal, which ought to follow the sixth within a year (again, see here).

Finally, we note that the seven planet parade of 2025 occurred on February 28. This reverse-ordering, assuming they signify the seals in some way (from seven planets on Feb. 28, 2025 to six planets on Feb. 28, 2026) would seem to suggest the next number to be five. However it is not a five planetary alignment which is meant (unless one were to occur shortly); that is also to say, it is not the fifth seal which is meant. But what it means is that it concerns the fifth seal, but not its imminent opening.

Recent Events And The Fifth Seal

When the fifth is opened, St. John saw "under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord (Holy and True), dost thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth ?" (Apoc. 6:10-11). An argument can perhaps be made that the long-awaited release of the 'Epstein Files' represents the opening of this seal. After all, no serious prosecutions have been made thus far (as of Feb. 26, 2026) so the martyrs’ words can be said to concern that lack of justice. And then they were told to 'wait a little time' until the future martyrs, those of these times, are to be 'filled up' (Apoc. 6:11). A 'little time' can be less than a year, as a 'time' represents a year in Apocalypse. But we do not think so.

Without going into all of the reasons why once again (which, again, can be found here or on the home page) we believe the opening of the fifth seal to be the world-wide fake pandemic (2020). It did not actually exist, which is why the occasion of the fifth seal’s opening was not mentioned in the text. If a 'pandemic' or something similar were spoken of in the text, the impression would be given that it is real according to Scripture, and that would be an error. Since Scripture cannot err, its silence on the subject confirms the truth about the event, and confirms those who saw the truth - who will be numbered among those spoken of as the 'brethren' of the martyrs.

At the time, many people accepted what might be considered to be the precursor to the mark of the beast. And many denied the truth of the situation. From that point the good and the bad (those who will believe the truth and those who will not) began to be sorted in earnest.

The martyrs were told to wait 'a little time' until the number of their future brethren should be 'filled up'. From the fourth seal to the fifth (1965-2020) is fifty-five years; in comparison, 2020-2026 is indeed 'a little time', or one-tenth part. From the assassination of Charlie Kirk in September 2025, when the nastiness of one side was seen clearly, to the aforementioned Epstein Files, which seems to have the effect of further sorting those who might believe the truth from those who do not (but in a different sense, which we will not examine here), and further still, later this year, when the SSPX will consecrate new bishops in defiance of the Vatican which might ultimately result in a real full schism from "The Second Vatican" (the 'New Church' of 'Vatican II'), resulting in a noticeably large number leaving Rome to become sedevacantist, it appears that the number which is to be 'filled up' is soon to be accomplished.

Addendum Feb.28/26:
Feb.28/26  Blood Moon addition. There is a ‘blood moon’ on Mar. 2-3, 2026. This should be in context of the ‘planetary alignment’, as there are too many things too close together: https://x.com/DavidSmuts/status/2027471908367962612?s=20

Home/5th Seal

The meaning of the title "Unmaking The Ring", for those who do not know, is a reference (in Lord Of The Rings) to the One Ring:...
